The Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Industry Association is the sole non‑profit social organization representing the AI sector in Shanghai, established under the business guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and subject to the administration and oversight of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau. Co‑initiated by entities including the Instrumentation Group, it was officially unveiled during the 2020 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. As one of Shanghai's platforms for innovation in the AI industry ecosystem, the Association has brought together more than 700 member organizations. Adhering to self‑reliance and strength, the Association emphasizes an application‑oriented approach, striving to promote the healthy and orderly development of China's AI sector in a manner that is beneficial, safe, and equitable. Its responsibilities encompass industry‑development research and operational analysis; the building of an AI innovation ecosystem; industrial incubation, investment promotion, and talent and expertise recruitment; AI governance; and international exchanges and cooperation.
